i really have been knitting...really.

i just can't find the dang cable that connects my camera to my computer so i can upload all of the nice pictures i've taken over the last month or so. DRAT! need to keep searching.

i am just about finished knitting up miss aubrey's sweater. i used the eyelet yoke cardigan pattern from lion brand yarns. super easy. i modified it to knit the body and arms in the round, so that i would only be left with the small under-arm seams. (i will go to great lengths to avoid sewing seams.) knit up in cascade ecological wool. i just need to block it tonite and sew on the button. it's so cute i could easily envision whipping out a jess-sized version.

but, i have other projects to tackle. like twin hats. and pete's sweater that i've been working on for, um, years now. and the cowl and hat that i want to make for myself. and some socks.

so many choices!

next time i post, i promise to put some pictures up here!

happy holidays!

i am happy to report that all of my christmas knitting is complete, hurray! AND, i finally finished my sweater, hurray! i promise to post some photos soon...probably not until after the holiday, though.

pete left us yesterday to head down to southern parts to be with his parents this week...his dad is having surgery today, so he is helping his mom out. miss a and i will be leaving tomorrow evening to join them. in the meantime, i've been a wee bit busy packing, wrapping gifts, and doing the solo parent-thing...so not a lot of time to work on photos.

until next time, i wish you a warm, happy, love-filled christmas.

oooh...new knitty!

the new knitty is up! yippee! i am in love with so many of the patterns, but i'm particularly enthralled with these and this. yum. i need to start acquiring more fingering weight yarn.

i'm getting ready to start the decreases on my lil' brother's christmas hat. i made it with cascade yarn's cashvero DK. very soft and squishy. i hope he likes it. i'll find out this weekend when i get to see him and the rest of my family.

begin at the beginning

okay, i'll come right out and say it, i don't much care for elaborate introductions. so here's what's doing:

my name is jessica. i live in a very cool stone house in a teeny tiny town in vermont with my husband pete, our little kiddo miss a and our middle-aged laborador retreiver cabot.

i'm an attorney, but, i freely admit that i spend far too much time fantasizing about either: (a) being a farmer; (b) designing and making wooly things; or (c) both.

i've been knitting for a loooooong time. my mom, grandmother, and great grandmother taught me how to knit, and my great grandmother gave me her collection of knitting needles when i was in high school...a gift i've always treasured.

that's pretty much all you need to know about me at this juncture. now, on to business.

this time of year is always a blur of holiday knitting projects. i'm just about finished with my brother and sister's gifts, and i'm hoping to get some pictures of them sporting their handknits next weekend when they come up to these parts for a visit. and then there's the parade of babies that i need to knit for. in the meantime, when i'm not working on the holiday handknits, i am trying to find time to finish up a sweater for myself. (prime knitting time for me is during the morning commute to work.) i'm like 93% finished with it. perhaps my next post will have pictures of the final product...i can't wait to wear it. winter has really snuck up on me and my body isn't quite prepared for the cold and the snow. and since i clearly do not need to amass more body fat...i'd better pile on the woolies.
